Please see below for internship opportunities. All of our internships are volunteer-based and unpaid, but we are happy to help you arrange to receive school credit, fellowships, work-study, or any other form of compensation available through your school or other institution.

  • Grant Writing/Fundraising

    This internship will entail working on grant research and the grant writing process. Applicants will have the opportunity to enhance their organizational and writing skills by learning how to advocate for a nonprofit, brainstorm creative ways to raise funds for our organization and the larger community, and collaborate with other local organizations to build connections of mutual support. This position would be beneficial to anyone who is looking to build professional writing skills or pursue content writing as a career path.

  • Sustainable Architecture and Engineering

    This internship offers an opportunity for students to be creative in turning trash into treasure by diverting waste and upcycling it as building materials. Applicants will learn the basics of planning a building site, learn methods to alleviate blighted properties through urban agriculture, and help design projects with a focus on sustainability and resilience to increase food sovereignty and energy security. A basic understanding of permaculture is recommended for applicants of this role. This position would be ideal for those interested in architecture, urban planning, or engineering as a career.

  • Land Stewardship/Horticulturist

    This position will focus on the production of food and maintenance of our flagship site. As well as making sure the crops and soil are well-tended and thriving, this role will also conduct tours of the grounds and assist in educating others about the benefits of urban agriculture. This role would be beneficial for anyone looking to pursue horticulture, agriculture, or ecology professionally.

  • Outreach and Event Coordination

    This internship will help connect our organization with members of the local community through social media, event coordination, and the creation of written and video content. This position will further work closely with our Grant Writing/Fundraising Intern to build networks of support for our establishment. This is an ideal position for those eager to pursue social media marketing or outreach professionally.

  • Hospitality/Administration

    This internship entails onsite assistance at our flagship location. This position helps with making the space available to the community through our accommodations for stays, as a co-working space. This opportunity offers experience with assisting our agritourism programs and communal locations through focusing communication and organization. This position would be great for those interested in hospitality, administration, coordination of communal and sustainable areas as a career path.

  • Sustainable Resource Management

    Opportunity to learn the process of waste diversion and composting through turning trash into treasure to create a better future. This internship will focus on the collection, preparation, processing/maintenance, and harvesting/distributing of organic material and waste products at our urban farm. There are opportunities at every turn here to create a new relationship the resources around us in our ecosystems which includes the built - environment. Those interested in pursuing horticulture , ecological conservation, or resource management professionally would benefit particularly from this role.
